Construction Safety Documentation Process
Safety documentation helps construction teams plan work, verify controls, record incidents, and prove that corrective actions were completed.
Process steps
- Step 1
Plan the work
Identify hazards, competent people, required PPE, permits, training, and job hazard analysis requirements.
- Step 2
Document daily controls
Track toolbox talks, site observations, access controls, equipment checks, and high-risk work permits.
- Step 3
Record incidents immediately
Capture date, location, people involved, description, photos, witnesses, and immediate corrective action.
- Step 4
Assign corrective action
Name an owner, due date, required fix, and verification method for each safety issue.
- Step 5
Close and trend
Review repeat hazards, open actions, inspection findings, and documentation gaps in project meetings.
